Fabric from bacteria

Kombucha is a particular symbiotic colony of yeasts and bacteria. This experiment aimed to create a fabric from just a piece of colony called S.C.O.B.Y. ("symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast"). All the colony needs in order to grow is just sugar, green tea (nutrients for the bacteria) and apple vinegar (to prevent the growth of mould anf fungi).
The colony needs darkness and heat to survive and to reproduce.
After some period of time (2 weeks - 1 month) the bacteria colony started to gain thickness and I was finally able to dry it and make it into a fabric.
The result is a non-animal leather grown directly from living organisms, it can eventually be sewn into clothes or to create accessories. The touch is smooth and the fabric is elastic.
